British: thread by thread

By Horsley Couture

At Horsley Couture, we understand the importance of both supporting local businesses and minimising a business’ carbon footprint. This is why we are proud to share that the high quality clothing that we produce is made from locally sourced material from a whole range of mills within the UK.

Many of the mills we source our materials from are renowned worldwide as some of the best, including Lovat Mill in Scotland and Abraham Moon Mill and the Marton Mills in the North of England. Being huge supporters of British suppliers, we consider ourselves very lucky to be situated in such a fantastic area with so much at our fingertips.

Lovat Mill, also known as the “the home of tweed” in the border town of Hawick, has a worldwide reputation for its high quality produce and designs and has been operating since the late 1800’s. Abraham Moon Mill has also been operating since the 1800’s, boasting a beautiful range of fabrics and in recent years, has become one of Great Britain's last remaining vertical woollen mills, completing all its processes on one site. The Yorkshire based Marton Mills is the youngest of the three, having only been around since the early 1900’s, however this doesn’t reflect their success as they were named Luxury Goods Family Business of the Year in 2016.

Using only the finest material from these mills, we set out to produce remarkable garments - skirts, dresses, jackets, blouses, and more, with beautiful patterns and unique designs. If you’re interested in the fabrics we use, then you can order a selection of samples so you can decide for yourself which fabric suits you best.
